Fucking Hell is a zine that explores the theme of death in Chinese culture. A collaboration between Asylum’s Creative Director Chris Lee and renowned photographer Yang Tan, Fucking Hell captures Haw Par Villa’s interpretation of the Ten Courts of Hell – a place where humans are punished for their sins after they die – and walks you though the artistically gruesome tortures that they suffer before reincarnation. The zine is inspired by the burning of Chinese joss paper – a traditional act of giving money to the dead – and is complemented with gold foil stamps and manually burnt edges for the effect.
Fucking hell was exhibited at Here is ZINE #11 in Tokyo, Japan.
